Boracay!

We finally managed to get away on our trip to Boracay Island after numerous attempts.

We originally planned to go over New Year's, but Matt got sick and had to be hospitalized. We then rescheduled it for the Lenten break, but our resort botched up our reservations. You can just imagine my and Cindy's frustration, after being so excited for Matt, who has never been to the beach (or even on a plane!). We used the same airline for the first 2 attempts, just re-booking the flights to different dates. But after the 2nd time, we decided to cancel the flight altogether and book on a different airline: one that went directly to Caticlan, the port town just across Boracay Island (note: the other airline flies only to the neighboring province; after which you still had to take a 2-hour-or-so land trip to Caticlan).

So off we went, with a minor glitch during the flight. During the takeoff at NAIA, Matt promptly fell asleep -- with some pharmaceutical assistance, coupled with the pressure change (which I also distinctly feel every time I travel via airplane; particularly during take-offs). During the descent to Caticlan airport, Matt's ears started to hurt, due again to the pressure change. Good thing it only lasted a few minutes. The flight home was less troublesome, with Matt asleep during touch down.

Suffice to say, we all enjoyed ourselves during the stay there. Our hotel wasn't beach front, but was a respectable 2-minute walk away. We never went farther than D*Mall (only going there to get money from the ATM), since Matt couldn't go all the way without asking to be carried on the way back.

So much had changed in Boracay since our honeymoon in 2003; a lot more resorts and nice-looking ones at that. And to think we never even got close to Station 1 where, we've been told, a few nice resorts have been put up as well.

With only the three of us there, here's the closest thing to a "family portrait" that I could get

It was so delightful seeing Matt enjoy his time there, that we vowed to go back (as soon as the second baby is big enough to walk!).
