Canon 7D

If I were to ever move away from Oly (I'm totally sold on their lenses, and Four Thirds in general), this is what I would get (if I had the moolah, that is):

Quick specs:
  • 18 MP APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 8fps maximum continuous shooting
  • 19-point all cross-type AF points (versus 9 points on the 50D)
  • 1080p HD video recording with manual controls
  • transmissive LCD incorporated in viewfinder (allows various overlay features such as AF points, composition grid, etc)
  • dual-axis electronic level (first EOS to have it)
  • 3" VGA LCD screen
  • wireless flash control
  • environmental sealing
Impressive. Most impressive.

I just wish Olympus would come up with the E-3's successor; something along the lines of the 7D, but in the Four Thirds format. I guess Oly's too busy pushing Micro Four Thirds to bother with their premium dSLR line for now. Oh well... time will tell.
