A tribute to my Mom on TV

Yesterday a TV crew from The 700 Club Asia came over to the office to tape a video interview with me. They're featuring my Mom on the 09 May 2007 edition of the show as a Mother's Day special.

Earlier that afternoon they were at my folks' house to interview my sisters and take some photos. The session with my Mom will be some time next week.

The interviewer asked about what particular traits I appreciated about my Mom, and what values do I think she was able to hand down to us kids.

I answered that, from my point of view, my Mom's greatest "legacy" or influence on her children is faith in God. Her devotion to the ministry and the study of God's Word is just awesome! (she's written a fairly popular book -- in Christian circles -- entitled "How To Lead Bible Studies").

One of her admirable traits is that she takes very good care of her family ("maalaga"; I don't think there's a direct translation in English of that word), making sure that all our needs are met (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual...). One of the things that amazed me through the years (and I mentioned it in my tribute to my parents during my wedding) is that despite our family's humble income from full-time Christian ministry, we never really were in want of anything. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but from our lifestyle, you wouldn't think that we were "Pastor's kids" (PK). I attribute this to my Mom's (and Dad's) good stewardship of our resources, another trait I hope my own family would learn to master some day.

Of course all of this is through God's amazing grace alone. To which I say Hallelujah!
